Course Objectives
This course involves the study of Organizational Behavior and is composed to fulfill the
following objectives:
- To provide students with a current overview of Organizational Behavior practices.
- To built consultation skills in the area of Organizational development.
- To establish deep understanding of cross-cultural communication and ability to analyze
business situations.
Course Requirements
- Learning and Participation: it is the student's responsibility to read and study the
assigned material on or before the required dates. Learning listening to the instructor,
taking notes, listening to other students' contributions, and exhibiting behavior equal to
that of a professional in a formal business situation.
- Attendance is a subjects of constant control. In addition to regular attendance check
there will be surprise quizzes that can harm the overall grade if missed.
- Text Readings, Written Assignments, and Case Discussions: class lectures are designed to
supplement and reinforce text material. Students are expected to read the text before the
due date and be prepared to evidence their reading by unannounced quizzes and class
discussions.
- Examinations: Exams will be based on the Russian textbook, assigned articles, and class
lecture materials. In some cases class lectures will reinforce material presented in the
text, while in other cases, class lectures will be based on new material. Exams will
consist of both objective and short essay questions. All exams will be non-cumulative.
Make-up exams will not be given except for the most unusual cases.
- Course project: to be discussed in class. Project reports must be handed in on or before
Friday of the fourteenth week of classes. There will be one full letter grade penalty for
each working day the report is late.
- Student Conduct: The following conduct is not acceptable behavior by university
students:
(1) Disrupting the class by holding side-conversations when the
instructor is speaking or others are contributing; that is talking that is not part of a
specific classroom discussion or presentation is totally unacceptable professional
behavior in an international setting.
(2) Arriving late to class will result in deduction of points.
(3) Preparing homework or studying for another course during a class
period.
(4) Cheating during testing periods (cheating can be proved by the same
work of two students and/or continuous staring at the neighbor's exam).
Repeated (more than once) violation of any of these rules will result in one full
letter final grade reduction.

B (4) 80.0 - 89.90%
C (3)70. 0 - 79.99%
D (2) < 70
Final grade will consist of:

* Active participation in class discussion is encouraged, in particular establishment
and development of business communication with consultants.
- Office hours: There are no formal office hours. If a student has any questions or
problems with any specific text material, exam, or written assignments, s/he should make
an appointment with the instructor before or after a class period or by or by E-mail nmikhalkovskaya@mail.ru
- This syllabus is subject to change. The instructor reserves the right to make changes to
the schedule, content of the course, and the syllabus as necessary for the successful
progress of the course. It is the student's responsibility to know if and when changes
have been made to the syllabus and/or schedule.
